This tour really gets you out & around beautiful Bavaria to play some courses that just are not practical on a day trip from Munich.  the tour has a good mix of golf and culture.  We start and end the trip from the capital of Bavaria and bookend the trip playing two of the best courses close to the city.  We will spend two days in Bad Griesbach, the only true golf resort in Bavaria, and play two of the six courses there.  We will visit Germany’s longest castle, the basilica where the hearts of the Bavarian ruling family are kept, and germany’s own “Three Rivers City”, Passau, where the Danube and Inn meet.  Then we travel to central Bavaria to play two top-notch courses built on the American model.  We will visit Regensburg, which was founded by the Romans, and go on a boat ride on the Danube and eat lunch at the oldest monastery brewery in the world.  We have at least two night at each hotel.

Itinerary

Day 1
Welcome To Bavaria
Munich
Day One is arrival day, and get-over-jetlag day if you are coming from overseas.  We will pick you up from the airport and bring you to the Munich hotel.  If the entire group arrives early and wants to hit the ground running we can organize an activity such as a special tour or an extra round of golf.  The day will be crowned by the special Welcome Dinner at the world-famous Hofbräuhaus in the evening.

Day 2
We start the week off with a tour of Bavaria’s capital city, Munich.  We’ll go by car and by foot to see the important historical and interesting places, including the BMW World, the Residence and Marienplatz with the Glockenspiel.  At noon we head out for the first round of golf at either Schloss Egmating or Valley G.C, depending on their tournament schedules.  Dinner tonight at a fantastic country inn close to both courses.

Day 3
Burghausen Castle
Beckenbauer Course
Today we head to Lower Bavaria and Bad Griesbach, the only true golf resort in the state.  On the way we stop by in Altötting to see the famous basilica and the Black Madonna.  this is where the hearts of the Bavarian Kings are kept (they are all buried in Munich). Then it is on to Burghausen, Germany’s longest castle for a photo stop.  The golf course for today is named after a living German sports legend, Franz Beckenbauer, who hosts an annual charity tournament there.

Day 4
The beautiful city of Passau is our cultural highlight today.   A true Renaissance city, Passau was completely rebuilt by Italian architects in the 17th century after a terrible fire destroyed the city.  Passau sits on a pointed promontory where the blue Danube and green Inn rivers meet and is a favorite riverboat stop.  This afternoon you play the fun and varied Uttlau course in Bad Griesbach, the first course built there.  Dinner tonight on us in a traditional country inn.

Day 5
Walhalla Temple
Schwanhof Clubhouse
A visit to Regensburg highlights our cultural program today.  We first stop by the Walhalla, a Greek (inspired) temple overlooking the Danube, before heading into the city.  We will visit the  vestiges of the Roman city and sample their famous sausage right by the Danube River.  The we head to Schwanhof, the first course in Bavaria with white bunker sand, imported from Florida.  Dinner at a traditional inn on the way to our hotel.

Day 6
Today we will see many castles and ruins along the picturesque drive down the Altmühl (old Mill) valley before taking a boat ride through the Danube Narrows.  Lunch is at Kloster Weltenburg, the oldest monastery brewery and second oldest brewery in the world.  The round of golf is at the excellent am Habsburg course, designed by Graham Marsh.  Dinner at our acclaimed brewery hotel.

Day 7
Salzburg
Play Golf
We head back towards Munich and visit Ingolstadt, which still has much of its medieval character and is home to Audi.  The famous Bavarian Beer Purity Law was decreed in Ingolstadt in 1517.  Then we head to Gut Häusern, a course near Munich which hosts an event on the Ladies European Tour and is annually ranked in the top five in Germany.  We head back to our hotel in Munich in time for dinner.

Day 8
Today we sadly say “auf Wiedersehen” and bring your group to the airport for the trip back home (or to your chosen departure point).

Because of opening times and event schedules, on this tour we normally do the cultural activity in the morning, and golf in the afternoon.
Because of tournament schedules and such not every course is guaranteed to be available for play on the particular day according to this itinerary. We have full flexibility, of course, to adapt and swap days when necessary.
Day One starts with your arrival in Munich. If you are flying in straight from the Americas, you fly out on the previous day.
